The program provides a variety of services to the clients and is based on the individual’s needs. Having fresh shark meat would be an amazing treat for these gentlemen as food is purchased from local services such as food banks and donations from local retailers. Fish is not one of the items on the list because of cost. Fifty to seventy pounds of fish will feed the entire house for a dinner. Their live in center for men houses on the average about one hundred eighty men and the women’s center house on the average about twenty woman. Once the individuals have completed the in – house program they are transitioned into halfway housing until ready to be a self-sufficient member of society. They also provide meals to the homeless by bringing meals to various shelters around the city and having their own soup kitchen. Any given month the Rescue Mission feeds approximately twenty thousand to forty thousand individuals. They provide meals daily to about four thousand individuals per day, including children. The philosophy of St. Vincent DePaul Village is “To truly change someone’s life you have to do things differently”. One of their housing facilities caters to families with children where they provide education, food, clothing and protection for families in trouble. CHARITABLE DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE According to the IRS, donations made to qualified 501c companies are tax deductible as charitable contributions. The organization needs to provide a receipt for the donation of any item at the fair market value of that donation. When donating your fish meat be sure and ask for a receipt.
